Two Reasons to consider M365 E5 Compliance in 2024

Although there are many benefits to the Microsoft E5 Compliance offering, there should be 2 at the forefront of your minds this year as you review your current Microsoft environment and plan for upcoming changes, and vulnerabilities...especially if you have, or are considering, Microsoft's CoPilot.

The first reason, albeit something you should already know about, is Data Loss Protection (DLP) for your Microsoft Teams. On the 30th of June 2023, Microsoft removed the rights to create DLP policies for Teams under the existing E3 subscriptions and made E5 Compliance a requirement for this functionality. DLP is needed to protect sensitive data in transit and there is currently a big gap in data security for lesser subscriptions.

The second reason is around highly sensitive data that requires Double Key Encryption for protection. CoPilot will not be able to access data protected with Double Key Encryption. This is a recommended step from Microsoft if there are areas of your business/data that need ringfencing.
Our advice here at SAM Assured is to take a serious look at your data security needs and whether E5 Compliance is something you need to start motivating to the business!
