Broadcom's VMware Cull
A VMware Cloud Foundation Blog released on the 22nd of January 2024, shared valuable information about their 'portfolio simplification'. As a result, many of their solutions will only be accessible through their VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) or VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF). Although add-on services are available under both.
VMware is also planning to offer a 'Bring Your Own License' capability that will allow customers to deploy their subscriptions to VMware-validated cloud endpoints. Some of these validated cloud endpoints will be Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Oracle, and IBM Cloud, amongst others.
Some of their EoA (End of Availability) products have replacements offered under VCF/VVF, but most of the EoA products are gone for good. Check out the full list here.
Overall, a very welcome housekeeping exercise, albeit the changes might take a little getting used to!
